Working while studying in France
A part-time job can help cover living costs and build experience while you study in France. Here is what international students should know about work rights.
How much you can work
A student residence permit generally allows you to work part-time — up to 60% of the full legal working year (around 964 hours). EU/EEA/Swiss students have no such limit.
Where students find work
- On-campus roles and student services
- Tutoring and language teaching
- Hospitality, retail and seasonal work
- Internships tied to your program (with a convention de stage)
Rules on hours, taxes and social contributions change, so verify the current limits with your institution and the official service-public.fr guidance before you start.
